Flash Nexus 7 (2012) to Lollipop

After having my Nexus 5 and also my TF101 already running on Android 5.0 I really was waiting to get it also for my Nexus 7 because performance became quite bad on it and I was hoping for improvement. But it seems that the OTA is still not being rolled out to German tablets.

So I decided to flash it by myself and this is quite easy: Just download the image and follow this instruction.

I did it from my Mac and this page shows how to install adb and fastboot with just running one command.

So flashing worked perfectly but the performance is at least as bad as it was before or even worse. So I’m thinking about switching back to 4.4.4. But let’s see…

Lollipop on my Asus Transformer TF101

Already for a while my old Asus Transformer was running on KatKiss‘ KitKat rom and especially in the beginning it was working quite well but from the performance point of view it was acceptable in the beginning but became slower and slower. So I decided to check if there is a Lollipop rom available because it is supposed to be faster especially on slower devices. And there is one, again by KatKiss. Keep in mind that you need a actual version of TWRP to be able to flash it. You can download TWRP 2.8 for the TF101 here. After this everything worked quite well and it is fast again. So I will wait some more time to buy a new tablet. Especially my wife is happy about this 😉

Cool down your Moto G

Since a while I’m using a Motorola Moto G as business phone. After having it for 4 days in my backpack the battery was empty and I tried to recharge it. But nothing happened. I tried different chargers and USB directly at the PC but nothing worked.

So I was returning it to our ITOPS department to help me out. After an hour the guy returned the phone and it worked again. He told me that he also tried different chargers without success but then he read an article (German) that you should put your phone half an hour in the fridge. As he had nothing to loose he tried it out and it worked.

Still I can not believe it 😉 But it brought the mobile back to life.
